How To Train Your Dragon (2010)

Credit: bananaoilmovies.wordpress.comA young Viking discovers dragons don’t have to be the enemy. He also discovers the secret island of the dragon queen (Please note the “-o-n” in “dragon queen”).

I think this is one of Dreamwork’s best films. The animation is awesome, it’s genuinely funny and the music in this movie will make you want to climb Mt. Everest in a kilt.

OH, SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW: Most people don’t wear kilts when they climb mountains.

Credit: screenrant.comThis movie is packed full of life lessons, but I’ll just focus on this one: Gentleness and temperance always precede true understanding.

Hiccup was the only Viking who wouldn’t kill a dragon. Because he took the time to understand the creature he once feared, he was able to turn his enemy into a friend.

How many times have I made assumptions about a person belonging to a different country, race, or religion? How many times have I jumped to conclusions about someone because of their appearance? How many times have I ignored the very person the Lord placed in my path to lift up?

Everything we know about them is wrong.

“And behold, the Holy Spirit of God did come down from heaven, and did enter into their hearts, and they were filled as if with fire… And as many as were convinced did lay down their weapons of war, and also their hatred and the tradition of their fathers.” – Helaman 5:45,51
