Going My Way (1944)

Credit: filmfoodie.blogspot.com A Catholic priest turns around a struggling parish by helping others see religion doesn’t have to be boring beyond all reason.

It just doesn’t get much better than this. The music in this is absolutely classic, it keeps you laughing, and it leaves you with a feeling of wanting to make a difference in the world. Plus, it’s got the guy who plays Fred Mertz in I Love Lucy.

OH, SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW: There’s an opera scene that’s super boring. You can skip it and not miss anything even remotely related to the plot.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies because it shows the difference just one person can make in the lives of complete strangers. It teaches that Christlike love and service are more important than sermons.

“When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God.” – Mosiah 2:17
